The children at St Mary’s have two hours of PE timetabled each week. The P.E lessons are designed to cover all aspects of the National Curriculum to develop a range of skills such as dance, gymnastics, invasion games (football, tag rugby) striking and fielding games (rounders, cricket) and net games (tennis / volleyball) and athletics.
Each term the children will get to learn new skills in two areas of the National Curriculum, starting with basic techniques then moving on to small games where they can practice their new skills.
During the school year the school tries to bring in outside coaches to give the children more opportunities at a wider range of sports. This school year we have had Lancashire Cricket Club, Rochdale Hornets Rugby League, Street Dance and The Tesco FA Skills Coaches in school working with classes from all year groups.
